Old town Belem

 

These are large guns that have sufficient range to hold off any vessel in the bay. Behind, you can see the entrance. There is a tiny, but excellent museum in the left wing (no photos).

 

Seen from the wall above the roof of the main building, it is clear that this perfectly positioned fortress controls the entire bay.

 

 

 

 

 

 

From the walls one has definitely interesting views of the harbor area, the tourist cops had warned me away from. And, indeed, tourists, even from Brazil, did not venture there.

 

 

Outside, in front of the main entrance, the inevitable model shoot. Girl on bench.

 

Of course you knew, I had to go, however, briefly. I can picture this when the street market is in full swing.

 

It is a very dicey area, but also quite fascinating. The blue building is a large market hall.
